Finally! From Tokyo to Manila, Uniqlo, the leading Japanese retail clothing brand opens its first Philippine Store at the SM Mall of Asia today.

Last June 13, A pre-opening party was held.

It was hosted by Guji Lorenzana and Tracy Abad.

President and CEO of Fast Retailing Co. Ltd, Mr. Tadashi Yanai gave his opening speech.

Vice Chairperson of the SM Investment Corp, Ms. Teresita Sy-Coson gave her welcoming remarks. (Thanks Mam for bringing Uniqlo in the Philippines! More branches please!)

After the welcoming remarks an opening ritual called Kagamiwari or Sake Barrel was done together with the Uniqlo Philippines Ambassador Iza Calsado, Chris Tiu and Chito Miranda (Nikki Gil was missing!)

We were given our own Sake cup wrapped in a  specially designed Tenugui (similar to handkerchiefs used since the Edo period that is commonly used in gift wrapping, as giving beautifully wrapped gifts is part of Japanese culture that express the warmth of Japanese hospitality) to participate in the opening ritual.

After the ceremonial toast Parokya ni Edgar performed.

We had the privilege to be the first to take a sneak peak and also to shop on the first Uniqlo store in the Philippines.
