Master Chefs 2013 launched the Barangay Cooking Challenge

On it’s 7th year Master Chef pays tribute to the culinary ability of the barangays with this years’ theme: Barangay Cooking Challenge: From Barangay Cooking Idols to Talented Master Chefs highlighting the everyday excellence displayed by carinderias, canteens, food stalls and home kitchens. This is a competition that will not only showcase their cooking skills but also must show other talent as well. Aspiring Master Chefs must incorporate a routing that wows the crowd.
Gracing the launch of the Master Chef 2013 are Papa Dan of 97.1 Barangay LS, Monica Verallo of Unang Hirit and Master Chefs 2013 Ambassador, Chef Hasset Go.

Different Chefs from the sponsors were also present to share different recipes.
Chef Paulo Sia, Corporate Sous Chef of Unilever Food Solutions cooked Firecracker Beef.
Ingredients:
Beef Sukiyaki Cut
Onion (slices)
Garlic (chopped)
Black bean Garlic Sauce
Chili Oil
Sesame Oil
Knorr Rostip (to taste)
Knorr Oyster Sauce (as needed)
Zuchinni (slices)
Bell pepper (slices)
Cilantro Leaves
Tamyao Sprouts
Procedure:
·         In a pan, sauté onion and garlic
·         Add beef and stir for approximately 1 minute
·         Add in the black bean garlic sauce and chili oil. Saute
·         Add Knorr oyster sauce, zuchinni, bell pepper, Knorr Rostip and sesame oil
·         Saute for 30 seconds

·         Garnish with cilantro and tamyao sprout.
Chef Kris Janine C. Alcedo, from San Miguel who works on recipe testing development, product application , food styling and other culinary related projects cooked Chicken Nuggets Cheezee and Barbecue Rumaki.
Ingredients:
Purefoods Fun Stuff Nuggets (2 boxes)
Magnolia Nutri-oil Palm Oil
Cooked rice (cooled)
Barbecue Sauce
Magnolia Chezee Spread

Nori (toasted and cut into “3x1”)
Procedure:
·         Cooked chicken nuggets in hot oil until golden brown. Set aside
·         Form rice into small balls approximately the same size as the nuggets
·         Spread Cheezee on top of the rice (you may also use Barbecue Sauce alternately) then top with a nugget
·         Wrap with nori to secure pieces together.

Master Chefs 2013 will reinvent the Pinoy’s all-time favorites; adobo, sinigang, pochero, kare-kare, chopsuey, Caldereta, menudo, pinakbet, and in the process, discover new ways of cooking the Master Brands. Master Chefs will creatively put new twists in the food products people have learned to enjoy like Nestle All-Purpose Cream, Maggi Magic Sarap and Maggi Savor, CDO Funtastyk, Idol Cheesedog, Bibbo Hotdog, and Ulamburger, Bounty Fresh Gourmet Chicken and Nuggets, Purefoods Tender Juicy Hotdogs, Stuffed Nuggets and Chicken Drummets, and Unilever Knorr Soups and ready mixes.
